Summer Program is a very busy and active time. The children get to participate in many different activities on a daily basis. Some of the activities are:

  • Off-sites – this is where a group of children and staff will walk to a location close by to the school and do a specific activity. This usually happens daily and in the mornings
  • Swimming – the groups will have the opportunity to go swimming at a nearby pool on a weekly basis.
  • Spirit Days – on these days the staff and children will dress up according to the theme for the week. For example: favorite superstar- could be sports athlete, singer or superhero.
  • Special Events – during the summer we have Special Event Days. On these days, the summer BLAST programs join together at a different location to participate in special activities. Past examples have been going to Paven Park, the Elks Compound, Writing on Stone and Park Lake.

During the summer we also offer a program specifically for the older children, called Sr. Blasters. The Sr. Blaster Program was developed to offer high activity, developmentally appropriate programming for the pre-teen age group, separate from the younger children. This Program is designed to incorporate, Junior Leadership Opportunities for children the older children. Goals of this program are to empower/encourage these children to work with the younger children in junior leadership roles as positive role models. With this greater responsibility, the group then gains more freedom and choice in their activities, during their time.
