Program  Assistant

We are an accredited Out of School Care Program looking for an individual that is passionate about children. The Program Assistant Position is responsible for supporting the programs by preparing all administrative items for accreditation. The Program Assistant is responsible for providing training on all QEP goals. The Program Assistant works under the direction of the Program Coordinator and alongside 2 other Program Assistants. Multi-tasking is a must in order to achieve a balance between Programming and Administrative duties.

Employment Type:Temporary/ 35 hours a week

Hours: MondayFriday 9:00am-4:30pm Evening work may be required (until 6:00 pm)

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Minimum 2 years in the field of child care

·  Child Development Worker or Supervisor Certificate

  • Proficient with MS Office
  • First Aid Certification
  • Clean Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector search conducted by the RCMP or Lethbridge Regional Police Service within the past 90 days.

Summary of Job Duties:

Administration

The Program Assistant – Accreditation has general administrative duties of a clerical nature.

  • Taking phone calls, answering emails, maintaining records and controlling documents for programs
  • Reviews weekly and full day programming
  • Prepares meeting minutes at Team Leader meetings; sends out to programs for review
  • Writes and compiles staff surveys, child surveys, and parent throughout the year

Program Support

  • Answer staff questions, and concerns during administration time
  • Visits 1 program location per day (section audits). Visitation times vary as well as the length of the visit varies. Rotating between morning and afternoon

Accreditation

  • Updates AELCS website for each program location as needed (room capacity changes, adding surveys, responding to requests from the accreditation office, program descriptions, licensed space updates, QEP goals, room set ups, and school information)
  • Compiles, and organizes accreditation evidence from the programs such as child profiles, family orientations, child orientations, consents, surveys, and any other Accreditation requests into binders
  • Develops short term accreditation goals for the new QEP being completed while finishing off the old QEP goals (3 year cycle)
  • Reviews accreditation binders and photo albums monthly for all program locations
  • Conducts staff accreditation training, assists floor staff with accreditation goals (new and current)
  • Manages accreditation and licensing visits; prepares list for 13 programs to ensure each program is fully prepared for their visits

For the child who like to pretend and imagine such as dress up, puppets and travel.

Physical

Either indoor or outdoors such as sports, parachute and circle games.

Quiet & Reading

For the child who enjoys their quiet time doing such things as hidden pictures, comics, or chapter books.

Kinder Kare Program is based on:

Providing children opportunities to try and experience new activities. The freedom to choose from a variety of activities on a daily basis. Aid in developing self confidence in a group of peers. Aid in the learning of self help skills such as: being responsible of their belongings, tying shoe laces, washing hands, zipping up coat, cleaning up after themselves etc. 

School Year Program

Register online by clicking on the tab above – Online Registration & Forms. Child care is available for grades 1 – 5 in the Public School System and grades 1 – 6 in the Holy Spirit Catholic System. Before School provides care Monday to Friday before school. After School provides care Monday to Friday after school, Professional Development (PD) days, Parent/Teacher interviews, Teacher’s Convention, Christmas & Easter Holidays

Summer Program

Summer Program is a very busy and active time. The children get to participate in many different activities on a daily basis. Some of the activities are: Offsites- this is where a group of children and staff will walk to a location close by to the school and do a specific activity. This usually happens daily and in the mornings, Swimming- the groups will have the opportunity to go swimming at a nearby pool on a weekly basis.
