It’s a Blast is an accredited before/after school program which this year has introduced the addition of Kinder Kare.

 Requirements:

  •   Child Care Certification within first 8 weeks of Employment
  •   First Aid certification within the first 8 weeks
  •   Clear Criminal Record Check within 2 weeks of employment
  •   Clear Intervention Check within 2 weeks of employment

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide quality enhanced child care for school age children through the planning, preparation and supervision of activities for children age 5-12.
  •  Ensure that attendance and other records are completed accurately and on time.
  •  Develop positive and respectful interactions with children, parents and staff.
  • Communicate clearly and positively so as to ensure that programming needs are exceeded.
  • Assist with instructing children in areas of health, social development, community awareness, self-discipline and conflict resolution.
  • Observe children’s behavior and determine plans of action to ensure best outcomes for learning and engagement.

Wages

All staff with a minimum of Level 1 certification start at $15.89/hr as a Program Leader. This is based on a starting wage of $13.75 plus $2.14/hr top up wage earned on all working hours.

Top up dollars vary based on your level of certification:

            Level 1 – Assistant $2.14/hr

            Level 2 – Worker $4.05/hr

            Level 3 – Supervisor $6.62/hr

Employees promoted to Team Leaders have the opportunity to earn up to $22.62/hr with Level 3 certification. As well, earn an extra 2 Personal Days off per year.

Positions available:

Program Leader Relief – available for various shifts throughout the week on an on-call basis. Staff must submit availability monthly and are expected to be available to work up to 15 min into the start of each shift in case of emergency.
